Applied Spectra and New Folder Consulting to Collaborate on Chemometric Software for LIBS
FREMONT, Calif. (October 18, 2010) — Applied Spectra, Inc., (ASI) a leading provider of analytical instruments based on laser ablation technology, announced it is collaborating with New Folder Consulting on chemometric software development for ASI's RT100 Series LIBS instruments. As a part of the agreement, Applied Spectra now offers New Folder Consulting’s LIBS GDT (Graphical Development Tool) as an optional chemometric module fully integrated with ASI’s powerful Axiom system software for its RT100 Series instruments.
"The chemometric algorithm is becoming increasingly significant for analytical applications that utilize broadband LIBS spectra for sample discrimination; for example, in forensic analysis. I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with New Folder Consulting, which has been the leader in development of effective chemometric algorithms and innovative front-end GUIs for real-time display of the processed data," said Dr. Jong H Yoo, Vice President of Technology and Marketing at Applied Spectra. "Integration of the LIBS GDT into our Axiom software is another opportunity to enhance the capabilities of our LIBS products and improve the end user experience."
"We're very excited about our new collaboration with a leader in the field of LIBS technology - Applied Spectra. The combination of their advanced LIBS systems and our real-time chemometric software will enable LIBS-based techniques to easily be applied in a wide range of applications that require rapid algorithm development and real-time processing," said Dr. Peter Torrione, CEO of New Folder Consulting.
